Contact Flooring carries out warehouse floor repairs in Leeds and across West Yorkshire, from distribution sheds on the M62 and M1 corridors to manufacturing units in older industrial areas. Our head office in Hyde, Greater Manchester, is a straightforward trip over the Pennines, and every job starts with a survey of the floor before we plan the repair programme.
Industrial floor repairs in Leeds and West Yorkshire
We cover Leeds and the surrounding industrial areas, including Cross Green, Stourton, the Aire Valley, Wakefield, Normanton, Bradford and Huddersfield. Much of the floor space here is high-bay storage and distribution, where the same few problems recur:
- Joint breakdown along aisles and at dock doors, where forklift and pallet truck wheels hit the same edges thousands of times.
- Racking damage where legs have been struck or base plates have broken the surface around them.
- Cracking that starts as hairline and then widens and spalls under traffic.
- Worn coatings in main traffic lanes, leaving bare and dusty concrete.
In older mills and works buildings the picture is often different: patchwork floors with years of previous repairs, level differences between old and new sections, and coatings laid over contaminated concrete.
Prioritising repairs across a large floor
Large Yorkshire warehouses rarely need, or can afford, every defect fixed at once. A sensible repair programme sorts the damage into what needs doing now and what can be planned:
- Safety-critical defects such as holes, broken joints in main routes and trip hazards in pedestrian areas.
- Defects causing equipment damage, for example rough joints that jolt trucks and loads.
- Damage that will grow, such as open cracks and early spalling, which are cheaper to repair now than later.
- Cosmetic wear that can be dealt with when an area is re-coated.
We set out the survey findings in that order so you can decide what to do, and when.
Running a Leeds job from our Hyde office
Because our team travels in from Greater Manchester, we plan each visit carefully: confirming the areas that will be free, the working hours and when each repair needs to be back in use. Larger programmes can be split into visits that match the bays or aisles you can release. Repairs are made with epoxy resin injection for cracks, resin or cementitious repair mortars for holes and spalling, cut and patch for larger broken areas, and flexible resin for joints. See our main warehouse floor repairs page for more on each method.
If an area keeps failing after previous repairs, we look for the reason, such as a joint that is still moving or a coating sitting on contaminated concrete, rather than simply patching it again.
Relevant projects from elsewhere
We do not have a published Leeds case study yet, but these projects show the kind of repair work we would carry out on a West Yorkshire site:
- Oxford, car parts manufacturer: an urgent health and safety repair done over a weekend. Damage was ground out to almost 40mm deep and rebuilt with an epoxy based repair mortar, a sand-filled scratch coat and a high build coating. Read the Oxford repair case study.
- Birmingham, 2021m2 existing warehouse: a failed epoxy coating removed, substrate repairs and levelling with resin repair mortars, then two coats of solvent free epoxy. Read the Birmingham case study.
When repairs should lead to a new surface
If repairs would cover much of the floor, or the existing coating is failing everywhere, it is usually better value to repair and resurface the whole area at once. Our floor repairs and renovation page compares the options, and for new resin systems see our resin flooring contractors in Leeds page.
Common questions
Do you cover Leeds and Bradford as well as the M62 sites?
Yes. We cover Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and the rest of West Yorkshire, as well as the rest of the UK.
We have damage all over the warehouse. Where do we start?
With a survey. We list the defects in order of priority so you can repair safety-critical areas first and plan the rest around your operation.
Can racking stay in place while you repair the floor?
Often, for repairs in aisles and around racking legs. Where racking has to move, we agree the sequence with you so only part of the store is affected at a time.
